Umm ok, I still cannot get over the fact that it’s already November—Scratch that, already NOVEMBER 11TH!! So I thought with Thanksgiving just around the corner and the rest of the Holidays soon after, I would share a few essentials I love to stay stylish for the upcoming holidays. These are a few things I’m totally swooning over, and thinking I need snatch [or put on my bday + Christmas list] ASAP because I mean they’re are all perfect for this time of year!
Anything else you guys are totally eyeing for the holiday season? Let me know!
With cooler tempters comes time for some major hydrating—for skin AND hair. My hair dresser Lisa [she is uh-mazing, you can follow her hair IG here] shared a great and easy recipe with me to keep my strands going strong and I just couldn’t keep it a secret!!
What you’ll need [also pictured above] and how to make the hair mask:
Mash up half an avocado, add 3 Tbsp of coconut oil, 1/2 cup of Milk, 2 Tbsp of honey and 2 eggs throw it in the blender and blend until you have a smooth consistency. Massage into clean, damp hair. Let sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with water. If you would like, Lisa suggests to throw on a disposable shower cap and leave it on a little bit longer [which is what I did for about 30 minutes!]
Why Lisa chose these ingredients!
This combination has so many hydrating powers with all the elements found in the ingredients. The eggs and milk have plenty of calcium which promotes hair growth and is important for proper absorption of vitamin D. And the avocado coconut oil and honey totally amp up moisturizing power.
WOW talk about some major hydrating power players!
I did this hair mask last week, and I can TOTALLY tell a difference! I love playing with my hair, doing different styles and changing up the color frequently, so I like to make sure to keep it healthy and I am so glad Lisa shared this with me to use when I feel my hair is starting to feel dry!!!
Do you guys have any recipes you love to use to hydrate your hair or even you’re skin? Would love to know & try!
Finally! The new Vanilla Fringe website is live and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you all! Since I took over Vanilla Fringe (in January) I haven’t changed much of Shae’s info to my info! It’s funny, I would have people who didn’t know me well but had seen VF ask if I liked to go by Gabi or Shae! Or sometimes I’d be asked if I was a guest post the blog! So I’m excited to finally have a new about me and have my own style brought to the website, while of course keeping Shae’s original VF inspiration in mind! So today’s post I thought it would be fun to do a little Q&A in celebration of the new site, so here we go!
Wearing │ Black Jeans :: Free People // Black Tank :: Free People // Halter Lace Bra :: Free People // Collar Necklace :: Thrifted [similar here]
↠How and when did Vanilla Fringe get started?
Vanilla Fringe started in 2012 by Shae, who I like to call the OG of VF! Shae is my older cousin who I’ve always looked up too, and when she got a new promotion (and engaged!) she asked if I would like to take over, so of course I said yes! So in the beginning of 2014 I took over Vanilla Fringe!
↠Is blogging my full time job?
No! I am actually a full time student at ASU studying Design Managment, plus a MIT at Free People, and also a design intern at Bloguettes! So VF is something I love to do on the side! And because I do have a pretty busy schedule I usually post 2-3 times a week, so check it out every Tuesday Thursday and sometimes [depending on the week haha] Friday!
↠5 things in my closet I couldn’t live without
-My favorite pair of ripped skinnies
-A panama hat // my solution to any bad hair day
-My favorite white tank // my go to basic
-This bag // its my whole life in it!
-A good pair of everyday boots
↠How would I describe my style?
Messy but put together, comfortable but stylish, & simple with statements!
↠Who are my style muses?
So so many but my tops :: The Olsen twins / Gillian Zinser / Blake Lively and Erin Watson—in my book, they can do no wrong!
I can’t even describe my excitement for this site! And my favorite part about the new website you ask, I can finally respond back to comments! So come on and bring on the comments, can’t wait to talk to you!! Hope you love the site, and let me know what you think Xxo
Alright, so over Labor Day weekend Shae (original VF) got married! Can I just start by saying, if this isn’t the best looking couple you’d ever seen, I don’t know who you all know! Not only were they the best looking couple ever, their special day was flawless. Full of beautiful flowers, a lot of whites and cream, lots of guests and of course an overabundance of love. This day was too good not to share.
If you’ve ever dreamed of a barn wedding, this wedding would have been your dream wedding! It was beautiful, my Aunt Robyn didn’t miss a thing. The entire day was picture worthy, so of course my camera was by side! So here’s a round-up of just some of my favorites things!!!
The bridal party got their Green Lake (GL) love on with t-shirts and mimosas while getting ready!
My little cousin Katie was one of the tumbleweeds (instead of flower girls, love it!) and if this picture doesn’t melt your heart, I don’t know what will!
Vintage furniture was set up around the venue for cocktail hour! How cute were these homemade lace hay-sack seat covers. I mean, seriously… who thinks of this? LOVE!
Another picture of the tumbleweeds outfit, because I can’t get enough! The dress and necklace were all made by Paris Montana
These signs were made for the flower girls to hold and run around the dance floor! It was adorable!
^^ Are you drooling yet?
Like I said, it was an amazing wedding and I am so happy I was able to be apart of Shae & Mark’s special day. It was seriously a weekend to remember! If you want to check out any more pictures from the wedding/weekend via instagram, the hashtag #GLisforlover was used!!
